ACI-AUIS and SPE Student Chapters Explore Engineering Marvels at Darbandikhan Dam

ACI-AUIS Student Chapter and AUIS SPE Student Chapter collaboratively, arranged a trip to Darbandikhan Dam hydroelectric plant on Saturday May 13th, 2023.

The aim of the trip was to learn about the dam and its importance. The trip included Civil, mechanical and energy engineering students of all levels along with Dr.Ali Alwaeli, Dr. Mashhoor Ismail and Dr. Mustafa Alattar.

The professors talked about different engineering aspects of the dam.The students went outside and inside the station. They learnt about how water turbines convert kinetic energy of the flowing water into mechanical energy. They were also taken to the control rooms and saw the advanced programs that is used to track the upstream and downstream of the dam.
